Ice Crystals and Light
Walking in my backyard on a cold, winter day.
One morning last week, I was up early. A friend from church wrote to me about something and, before finishing, said something like, “Hey, you need to take your camera outside this morning.” I looked out the window, immediately noticing that our backyard looked mostly dreary and uninspiring.
Even so, I went outside, camera in hand, and took a few shots. On top of our fence was a thin layer of ice, not more than a millimeter high. A layer of ice crystals, with the naked eye, doesn’t look like much. But from the lens of a camera, the imperceptible beauty of an ice crystal becomes a work of art.
