Lives Change When People Meet Jesus

A message based on John 8:34–36

While this story from the Gospel of John is often titled “Woman Caught in Adultery,” it is just as much about the sin of the men holding rocks as it is about the woman. They are all guilty.

Jesus was the only one in the crowd worthy of throwing a stone of condemnation… but he refused.

This woman’s life takes a new trajectory when she meets Jesus. We can imagine, and hope, that this interaction changed the lives of some of those men with Jesus, too.

The same is true of the Samaritan woman who meets Jesus at the well…and all the people in the village that she tells about Jesus and those who Jesus taught for several days following this encounter.

And the same is true of wee, little Zacchaeus, all those who were in his home that day that Jesus visited…and all the people to whom Zacchaeus made amends.

Lives change when people meet Jesus.
