Gather Together With Jesus
Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus told them to go. (Matthew 28:16 CEB)
Following the resurrection of Jesus, the women were instructed to tell the others that Jesus was alive and to go and meet him in Galilee. So, the eleven disciples (perhaps with the women and others who had been following Jesus ), gathered with Jesus in Galilee where he had told them to go.
The end of Matthew 28 is known as the Great Commission, whereby Jesus sends out his disciples to go and make disciples. Before that, however, he gathers together with them. Making disciples as we go through life is the purpose of every follower of Jesus , but we cannot neglect the gathering together with him at the start of this journey…and all along the way.
