This is a terribly simplified view of Scripture, or anything -- either true or lie? What do you mean by true? Historically accurate? Scientifically verifiable? Spiritually meaningful? Theologically authoritative? Something else? Well, Jesus told stories that were not historically accurate and/or that did not actually occur, but they are full of truth, right? Genesis contains unverifiable and/or outdated scientific understandings, but full of deep, foundational truths. The gospels have a range of differing timelines and points of view, but they have been used by God to overcome empires and transform hearts. To suggest that one gospel writer is lying because is doesn’t match perfectly with another, is silly. This is not how Scriptural truth works. And that’s no lie!
